Frequently Asked Questions

How do you join JASNA Maine?

It’s easy. Follow this link to the national Jane Austen Society of North America. Membership in the national JASNA organization entitles you to participate in events of Maine. You are allowed to select two other regions to be on their mailing list (not member).

What is the AGM and what does it involve?

The Annual General Meeting is a fall gathering of JASNA members and guests dedicated to the proposition that it’s more fun to celebrate Jane Austen with others. Each conference features speakers, exhibits and special events as well as optional tours of the host city, which changes every year. Registration for AGM typically fills up quickly.

How often does JASNA meet?

The Maine region meets three times a year — in the fall, in December to celebrate Jane’s birthday, and in the spring. We hope to return to in-person meetings soon.

May anyone attend JASNA ME meetings?

Yes! Guests are welcome. When there is a meeting charge (to help defray costs of speakers and refreshments), guests pay slightly more than members.

How do I get on the JASNA ME mailing list?

Just send us an email at janeite2@gmail.com and we’ll be glad to add you.

How do I contact a member of the board?

Board members names and email addresses are available on our about us page.

Are there opportunities to volunteer for JASNA ME?

Opportunities abound!  There are board members, committee chairs, and committees that always use volunteers. There are volunteers needed to set up/take down for meetings and bring food. We are playing with the idea of hosting a Promenade or Bake Off which will need many volunteers.

Is there a book group associated with JASNA ME?

A book group is being established.  Contact Susan Claska Burnett at janeite2@gmail.com for more information.
